"The Grieving Path" is a dark casket that reveals the deepest and most intimate emotions and sensations, where a pain-torn mind describes life as a slow journey, step by step, through a feeling of overwhelming discomfort and acceptance coming from awareness, of the form of life itself. A funeral song for darker times. Mourning, visions of the afterlife and deep introspection are some of the topics covered through the 5 tracks that make up The Grieving Path, an album with a total duration of 45 minutes. These times immediately lead the listener to refer to the five stages of grief processing: Denial;
Anger;
Plea bargain;
Depression;
Acceptance;
It can be defined as a very personal album, with a strong poetic inspiration, in which the listener can recognize lived experiences or sensations that, perhaps out of shame or fear, he never wanted to tell or even accept.

lyrics
I was shattered, bleak and glum
Screaming was the silence of the wounds
Dragged myself into the black of night
Pierced by silence in electric light
Cast the word of water in my bones
By the starless mirror of the storm
Cast my bones into the world of water
Flowing quietly on the veil of my eyes
Was It like lying upon this stream
Facing darkness, craving sleep?
Unaware of what was going to be
For this mind can just see what has been
Unaware of what these waters mean
Drifting silently on colder swirls
Is this ocean the betrayal of God
Or the tombstone of the essence of One?
Looking for land where land is just a lie
Leading loveless along lonely lines
I was what I needed to be to be what I became that night: nothing.
Nothing to see, nothing to blame or to fight for: a ghost of grey.
The grey that swirls and echoes in the chambers of life: silence.
Silence and nothing more, silence I wanted to come from the womb of my mother: silence.
I've been cast on shores of shapeless dreams
Laid my head down, fell asleep
Waited for a morning that has never come
Oh my love, what have I become?

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10 RJ
German Melodic Doom / Death Metal. Started with their latestest & slowly but surely got hooked! This is along the lines of Swallow the Sun or Insomnium or Enshine but it is more too & they have their own brand of melancholic agression. Highly recommended!!! bmurator
Decembre Noir are masters of this genre, and they never cease to amaze me. Great album, beginning to end, it's exactly what I want and love about this band. Brett (Lascaille's Shroud / Soulmass)
